About NAMI

Founded in 1979, NAMI (NAMI.org) has become the nation’s voice on mental illness, with affiliates in every state and in over 1,100 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through education, support, advocacy, and research.


NAMI Western Riverside provides a way for families and friends to assist each other and provide emotional support in times of crisis as well as during dialing coping with a mental illness diagnosis. NAMI provides positive support groups and the latest available information to those affected by diseases of the brain such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, affective disorder, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The mission of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the eradication of mental illnesses and improvement of the quality of life for all whose lives are affected by these disorders.

NAMI Membership

NAMI, a non-profit 501c3 organization, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of families as well as persons living with mental illnesses.
